We are all exposed to poisonous substances on a daily basis called toxins (i.e., pollution, harmful chemicals found in personal care products and processed foods, to name a few). Over time, they can negatively impact our health. So it’s important to release the excess toxins from our body.

One of the ways I do this is to soak in a detox bath. It’s become a favorite ritual of my self-care practice over the last ten years. Using Certified Pure Tested Essential Oils in my bath provides antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory benefits, alongside the main ingredients–Epsom Salt, Himalayan Sea Salt, Baking Soda and Apple Cider Vinegar. Together they help flush impurities from the body by sweating toxins out through the skin. I feel the benefits of a high-end spa in the comfort of my own home.

Keep in mind, not everyone will experience the same results since our brains are wired differently. When you inhale essential oils, it gets absorbed into your bloodstream and carried to your brain, specifically your limbic system. It then gets processed and used to send signals to other parts of your limbic system that control your emotions, appetite, stress levels, heart rate and other physical/emotional functions. So have an open mind and see which oils work best for you and your body.

My Detox Soak Recipe calls for Rosemary, Grapefruit and Ginger because they have purifying and cleansing properties, which nourishes the skin and is great for the digestive tract. I recommend taking a detox bath every 10 to 12 days or at least once a month. Oh and it’s also a great way to support a healthy metabolism.

If you think your body doesn’t need a detox bath, think again. I am a clean eater, which means I don’t eat any processed foods—I stay away from all gluten, soy, dairy, peanuts and processed sugar. I also use all natural personal care products because I learned what I put ON my body is just as important as what I put IN my body and let’s face it, there’s no such thing as being perfect! We all have our vices. ?
